Being Perceived
When you’re on trail there is so often a degree of separation between the hiker and the human. More often than not, when you come across another person on trail, they are meeting your outer shell - the hiker. They see this whole other part of you, right there on the surface. It’s the part that jumps right out at them and grabs their attention first. There is so much to see, to perceive, and to talk about first. Maybe in time they get to see the person beneath the hiker, or within the hiker. In time you might learn more about each other, where you came from, how you got to where you are now. That is a beautiful thing all its own.
